Since 1999, the event has been the most awaited Brazilian beach volleyball comp. It’s a tradition in Rio, in the city’s soul, Ipanema, the birthplace of beach volleyball.

The reason for that is very simple: it is the only beach volley tournament for individual players. The eight players are divided into two groups and take turns to play with their peers. The teams are formed by singling out the athletes who usually play together. This type of competition forces them to adapt quickly to their partner, making the matches more unpredictable. The two players going to the finals choose their partners from among those not qualified on the first day of the tournament.

Broadcasted live by Sportv throughout Brazil, the men’s and women’s tournaments are watched by about 15 million subscribers, according to the channel’s estimates.

Go Cup is the biggest children’s soccer tournament in Latin America. Played in a Soccer 7 format (from Sub 7 to Sub 12), Go Cup divides its tiers into three championships. The first round is a qualifier and aims to assess the participants’ technical performance. Then, the teams are ranked into three levels — gold, silver and bronze. The finals have three champions in each tier, totaling 18 champions and runners-up.

Open to all clubs, schools and children’s teams in the country and abroad, the Go Cup is fully geared towards kids. The main goal is not to train athletes, but to educate children. The teams are mixed, with girls and boys playing together.

Rio Open is South America’s largest tennis tournament. It is among ATP’s 22 most important tournaments and the first ATP World Tour 500 tournament in the Brazilian history. In the world, there are 13 events in this tier. This qualifies Rio Open as Rio’s largest annual sports event and one of the few ATP 500 clay court tournaments in the world, along with Barcelona and Hamburg.

In 2017, in the fourth edition, the Australian Dominic Thiem entered the list of Rio Open champions, becoming the third top 10 in the ATP ranking to win the tournament. Rafael Nadal, number 1 in the world at the time, won in 2014, and David Ferrer, number 9, won in 2015. The event will follow its tradition of always bringing the best players to fight for a title in Rio de Janeiro.

Besides its great relevance in sports, Rio Open stands out for the side events that take place at the venue: Leblon Boulevard and Corcovado Club. Leblon Boulevard is an interactive area that offers off-the-court entertainment for families in general, with music shows and dining experiences at renowned restaurants. Corcovado Club is a VIP area for sponsors’ guests and clients.
